Morocco Modernizes Marrakech and Agadir Airports Under 2030 Vision
As part of its national development strategy, Morocco is enhancing its airport infrastructure with major upgrades to Marrakech-Menara and Agadir-Al Massira airports, aiming to improve passenger experience and prepare for the future of travel.
Rabat – The Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) has launched significant improvements under its “Airports 2030” initiative, focusing on revamping the exteriors, access routes, and entry points of two of the country’s busiest airports — Marrakech and Agadir.
According to ONDA, these enhancements are designed to create a more seamless and user-friendly journey for passengers. Key upgrades include redesigned vehicle traffic flow, optimized drop-off zones, clearer directional signage, and dedicated terminal access tailored by airline.
The newly redesigned reception and welcome areas aim to ease both arrivals and departures while raising the overall standard of services provided. These improvements reflect Morocco’s growing tourism ambitions and its commitment to hospitality excellence.
Both airports serve as strategic entry hubs for millions of travelers annually. Their modernization is considered vital to sustaining tourism growth and delivering a world-class experience from the moment visitors land.
ONDA emphasized that the success of these renovations is the result of collaboration with key national and regional entities — including the Ministry of Interior, Border Surveillance Directorate, National Security (DGSN), Customs, the Royal Gendarmerie, and regional authorities in both Marrakech and Agadir.
These efforts come as Morocco intensifies its preparations to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal — a historic event marking the first joint hosting between continents.
Earlier this month, Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh confirmed the country’s ambitious target: expanding airport capacity from 30 million to 80 million passengers by 2030. This expansion supports Morocco’s goal of creating smarter, more connected airports in line with global standards.
By enhancing the first and last impressions of international travelers, ONDA believes these upgrades are a crucial step toward building a future-ready aviation network.
