Morocco Expands Direct Flight Network for Summer 2025 Tourism Boost

As the summer travel season approaches, Morocco is taking bold steps to enhance its appeal as a global tourism destination. The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has confirmed the rollout of 40 new or renewed direct international flight routes to various Moroccan cities, making the country more accessible than ever.

Under the ONMT’s “Light in Action” initiative, this strategic expansion strengthens air connectivity with key global markets. From well-known cultural hubs to emerging destinations, the new flight offerings are set to attract a diverse range of travelers.

New Connections Across Morocco

Agadir will benefit from three new direct routes this summer: two operated by Transavia from Bordeaux and Amsterdam, and one by Jet2 from Bournemouth. Continuing services from cities like Oslo, Berlin, and Bristol will bring Agadir’s summer seat capacity to nearly 73,000.

Marrakech, a cornerstone of Moroccan tourism, is seeing a surge in flight availability. New direct routes from Bordeaux, Malaga, Edinburgh, London Stansted, Leeds, and Newcastle will be added, operated by airlines such as EasyJet, Volotea, Transavia, and Jet2. In total, over 160,000 additional seats will be available, with popular routes from Amsterdam, Helsinki, Rome, Budapest, and Bucharest also being renewed.

Meanwhile, the coastal gem of Essaouira is set to gain significant attention with six new international routes, including flights from Barcelona, Nantes, Lyon, Paris, Seville, and Rabat. These connections are expected to generate more than 38,000 extra seats, supporting Essaouira’s image as a haven for culture, surf, and slow tourism.

Boost for Other Regions

In Fez, a new link with Lille is being introduced, while Rabat will receive expanded service from Dublin, Malaga, and Manchester. Northern hub Tangier will resume connections with Bordeaux and Girona, and gain a new flight from Copenhagen.

In southern Morocco, Dakhla remains accessible from Madrid and Lanzarote, and a new domestic route will now link Tangier to Beni Mellal, encouraging regional travel and balanced development.

A Step Toward Inclusive Tourism

The ONMT emphasized that the expansion goes beyond increasing tourist arrivals; it aims to address regional accessibility gaps, support domestic tourism, and create a seamless travel experience for international visitors.

By focusing on direct, point-to-point connections with strategic international cities, Morocco is reinforcing its status as a leading travel destination in North Africa — with a rich blend of culture, nature, and hospitality that continues to captivate global travelers.
